A charter flight of the MIAT Mongolian Airlines carrying 31 Mongolian nationals from Wuhan, the epicenter of coronavirus, landed at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport on February 1, Saturday.
Upon the Mongolian government’s decision to repatriate its citizens remained in the Wuhan city of China under quarantine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Research Center for Communicable Diseases of Mongolia, Mongolian Embassy in China and other relevant government departments organized the evacuation with the support from the Chinese government, reports the Cabinet’s Press and Public Relations Department.
The evacuated people and a crew of the charter flight, along with the Foreign Ministry and Research Center for Communicable Diseases staff worked throughout the evacuation will be held in isolation at the Research Center for Communicable Diseases for 14 days under medical supervision.
During the evacuation from Wuhan city, the Chinese side stated that the Mongolian evacuees were not found to be infected with the coronavirus.
There had been 33 Mongolian nationals quarantined in Wuhan city, 32 of them were students and one was a baby. From them, 30 adults with the child signed up for the evacuation and two students voluntarily refused to return.
The Press and Public Relations Department reported that USD 53 thousand was spent for the evacuation from the government’s reserve funds.
Today, February 3, Monday, Director of the Research Center for Communicable Diseases D.Nyamkhuu announced that the Mongolian nationals evacuated from Wuhan city were all tested negative for coronavirus.
